okay. so there's prac tomorrow. although i havent received any info but heck, i'm not performing in this one so why would anyone tell me. mz wanted to sit in lah but i think it's quite extra, after all this is a 5 man show so it's just abit weird for him to sit in. not like me or jc running the show like that. i'd like to think of it that way, yah, a group.
so tomorrow i have sec4 class soccer outing, i have prac which i dun have to attend. dunno. a bit disappointed with the songs chosen so far... like quite desperate choices and to me it means that we just cant put in our whole effort. true, it's like we need to do five or six songs. so far the two are like old alumni pieces which i'd rather not reuse since there is difficulty in adapting to the new grouping from one large alumni. and something just struck me. i think i dun particularly like to use these songs because they are too tame, in a sense. too barbershop kind of thing which is easy to pull off but to climax would be difficult when the intensity is not easy to maintain. one general guide is the bass line, really. typically you'll find nice surprises in the bass line of a good song, either to create very interesting moods/chords, to carry over intensities between phrases, to contrast against the upper voices. maybe i'm thinking too much but i do believe basses have a good role to play, so simply going thru the motion isnt what i would like to be doing, but rather trying to fit and enhance the entire song as part of the group. oh well, so much for the bassist.
and i think i still like to sing. heh. thinking about whether or not to attend tomorrow's prac.
