they say we live in a cultured society. this afternoon i walked home, passed by this two teenages on stunt bikes. i thought the bikes were pretty neat so i looked at it as i passed. so one of them shouted, oei, dun stare ok? well done. we live in a cultured society. At my void deck there is a bunch of kids, not more than 12 years old i think, 5 or 6 of them. in the afternoon i saw them trying to pry open the elevator door while one of them was trying to close the door with the button. that was not all. in the evening i saw them mobbing a house at the gate. it looked more or less like a riot. we live in a cultured society.

where have all the parents gone?

i'd be sad to know a person who did not receive his or her deserving share of love and care from the parents, but i'd be even more sad to know if the parents could not be bothered. sometimes we say some children are incorrigible. interestingly everyone starts out on this journey equal, so why is your child incorrigible but his child mature and understanding? who's at fault? that's not a good question to ask, pointing fingers dun help. let me try again. so how can we help to lead this child in the more socially accepted direction? dun tell me you want to give them freedom to grow. how do you expect a child who has not even understood the concept of responsibility, much less take it on, to handle freedom without direction? i'm all too glad my parents used to cane me for mistakes that was unacceptable. honest mistakes can be corrected nicely, but it was obvious that some times i was really at fault. today i'm telling you about morals and ethics.

i'm worried for this society. i should. the future looks dim. booking in doesnt help very much. love my bunk but not the whole of my platoon.
