as i was scrolling through the database i noticed the little five letters "yckps". apparently jia ning was actually from there too. she asked about a mr tang, but honestly i do not have much recollection from there.
what i do remember, first and foremost, would be ms lim. i don't think she's still single today, since that was 11 years ago and back then she was probably early twenties. this is the teacher that changed my life by kicking me out of yckps. okay not kicking. convincing me to "lose sight of the shore" would be a better term. i never went back to thank her and erm honestly i have no idea how to find her today. then again, i was too young then to think it might be important to go back and tell her "hey, i've struggled, but i've survived. thanks for pushing so hard for that leap of faith"
yckps, being my first school (not counting pre-school since that's like so not a school) was also my first in many things. i remember taking swimming lessons, joining the arts club and the library (before i left, one of the teachers gave me a book of my choice... i hope i still have it although i've forgotten who that kind teacher was) first time struggling to understand others (i'm not autistic. having sat through two lectures i've decided that clinically i fail the basic criteria to be diagnosed as autistic) first one sided love affair (that was like damn young lah, i think p2) and so on.
there were a few very weird memories i have from yckps too. there was once when the exam results were announced and somehow i remember someone stapling onto himself (but no blood. possibly there was no staples inside the stapler but i didnt check. too young.) i also recall (very vaguely) becoming class monitor plus subject rep for four subjects, then pushing off three of them (keeping chinese. my chinese teacher probably felt damn proud of me or something.)
reply to jia ning: mr tang? erm. sorry, maybe you can help me to recall... i left the school before turning 10 years old and i don't remember many things clearly anymore... maybe if you know ms lim (whose full name i do not know) i'll be very grateful cos i owe her one very long chit chat.
