Reflections

today is the second day at skss. again, nothing much accomplished, but at least i tried my luck at a few things.
1. ccas have been suspended until further notice. on the other hand, the choir noticeboard was last updated in 2007. this does not look good. the webpage is about at that level too.
2. i told ms razyna about commencement. apparently she also dun really know the process of leave application, and was asking if i had any form from nie. i said no and then i probably will be free up to 11am but not sure about afterwards. kudos to huiyuan for bringing me around to find her.
3. i reached chapter 50 of the warren buffet book. i dun think i’ve read so much for some time but i’m somewhat inspired to start another agatha christie book, yet at the same time i wonder if i should really be more proactive in the office area. i tot of starting with the ccas but h1n1 circumstances sort of killed that approach. i could prepare course materials for juncai or siew wei or even try to go through ellen’s work i guess, at least until i have more concrete things to work on.
4. we are relatively passive. might be a paiseh thing, or just that we are taking it easy. i find it hard to start in the environment. it’s not hostile, i know some people but really barely, but neither is it familiar enough to start doing much. lee kim, siew wei and justina have been doing active observations today though.
5. i will be meeting kelvin my insurance agent in a while’s time, so ending school on time or slightly past the earliest dismissal time. again no time to hang around and see things happen.
6. food and mugs have been brought in. unfortunately i am not sure how to make coffee around this place.
7. lee ching has convinced me to email moe to ask about my course and cs allocated. i’m probably only worried about the two sets of information flowing around, not so much that i might be teaching maths here. well, it’ll be my only chance to teach maths if the jc thing really comes through as jason expects, and then it’ll be good bye to that subject for good le.
8. i tried my luck at the wireless access in the school, to no avail. i wonder if it’s my configuration or just that the network needs some fixing. but i cant tell from this terminal, no good with ip stuffs on the mac. maybe i should ask.
9. today’s lesson is learn to be sensitive to other’s feelings. we had a tamil teacher here in the room and switched the conversational language from chinese to english to accomodate her. but i guess not everyone is comfortable in english either, but at least it’s more encompassing generally, so i still think it’s a better choice.
10. For the first time in my life, a MRT personnel came to stop me from drinking from my bottle. 0_o
