part 3. i'm not making much progress. spent much of today dreaming about cors.
today's results on cors: 2 chem modules secured. cheers. next up would be dangerous stuff. cant plan in advance for the next round cos the stats are all hidden. i cant even see how many vacancies are left for each module.
planning a grand count down party this sun haha~

just finished minesweeper. 4 sec short of my best timing. damn.
did 3 chapters today. nothing new is going in anymore, i think i'm just about saturated as i can be. almost cracked some not funny chemistry joke but nevermind. bidding has started! looking at the cors account (which has not failed on me yet this time round. looks like the measures against system failure is working so far) i realised that i'm only bidding for 2 modules this round. somehow the elective maths module is not considered part of my major module bidding even when i declared maths as my second major (which is such a lie, but nvm.) there is the inherent fear that i might actually use up all my bidding points by accident, and then i'll be damn screwed for the last module which i am going to bid for later on, as well as the subsequent years. (die chicken!) there is reason to praise the people working on cors. well done. let's hope the system makes it through this time.
last sunday we went for gang lunch. csl thought it was on monday instead (bx messages csl on saturday: let's meet tmr for lunch and ben and jerry's! csl reads sms on sunday morning, replies: i'll try) so csl missed the b&j, which was too wicked for me anyway. i had a hard time finishing my share. it was good, but maybe too much to handle. the caucasian in front of me ordered a core sundae. i fear for his health. (btw csl claims he has quit ice cream. for health reasons. hmhm.) so qy bx and i were wondering around united square. qy left early for whatever reason, then bx and i went for katong laksa at like 3 or 4, since we were both like damn full after the ice cream. to think we didnt have lunch. and we had to share one bowl, which was enough to finish us off.
bx is hopeful for a gathering this weekend. i should try to remember to bring the stuff i owe him. dun mind meeting, i have been plagued by a big fat cardboard-protected monster (in contrast to the big blue paperback monster earlier on) either way i'm going to die soon. it's madness.

went out with the tsls for lunch. interesting chat over lunch at rice table. also met aaron from unit and qiying, quite coincidental.
was attempting to plan for next sem. there's this tempting package of 5x1 + 2x2. sometimes i think i'm just asking to be shot. it's honestly crazy, but since i have already leaked my org chem stuff to cs i think it doesnt really matter. maybe i'll crash out. whatever. thanks to libing's advice i will put off adv inorg to next sem, where the lab sessions will be interspaced with two other modules.
i dun think i'll make it.
there's gonna be a lunch at novena tmr! no idea who's going though but what the heck. chiong ah. present draft timetable: wednesday free! (havent added tutorials for most of the modules though)

passed my btt today. while at the mrt stocking up for tmr's tsl outing i accidentally pressed on the wrong button at the atm and almost withdrew 1k for no good reason. luckily the atm didnt finish the request, maybe because of my frantic jamming of the cancel button.
got my results today. need to work harder. many of my friends are like me now thinking of what to take next sem. for those who have already planned it, well done but it's worth checking again. the data online is different from what i worked with months ago. and they dun agree with real-life first hand accounts ("it's every alternate week" vs "laboratory sessions are weekly")
congrats to mr wong for usp selection! yay~ have fun and take care!
there's a lunch tmr with the tsl ppl. hmhm. no gang celebrations this week though, pity.

received an sms from matt. r&b section full strength! haha it's been a long time bludder. session at 1030 tmr! time to revise my part though lol.
done 70 or so pages today. buay tahan. some more after lunch my favourite window seat got violated by some fellow, so i had to retreat to further inside. and it got colder. i had a short moment of runny nose. and there was this fellow who kept wispering to himself and adjusting his seat (which makes an irritating creeking sound) nvm tmr i wun have to face the army of overseas scholars again! well at least not for tmr. argh. whatever.

i'm supposed to reflect on my actions.
hm. not very wise. quite stubborn minded. refusing to let things flow the way they might. insisting on controlling fate. (which i guess is not 100% a bad thing) giving in to fate on certain issues, almost without struggling. not learning from past mistakes. asking for trouble.
okay, should suffice for now.

i should be ashamed of myself. i asked non-chinese persons to watch a chinese song performance. and they really went in. i hope they are not too irritated.
finished watching hare nochi guu. goodness. guu is like the alter ego that would seriously wreck chaos if she surfaces. i should be worried. then again, it's the kind of humour that i pretty much enjoy. argh. what the heck.
school day tmr.

just came back from budak concert (followed by noodles, shower, flossing, etc) now sitting in my room with my shirt attempting to dry. it's not doing very well. my hair is probably drying faster than my shirt is.
budak concert was up to their standard. joe looked quite sick but he managed to pull through the concert, which was entertaining to the core. thanks to kevin's free tix i got a good show at B24 (which is like almost under their nose. not quite there yet, row A got the under-the-nose seats) enjoyed myself. i also got to watch vjc choir carol while chatting with kev. probably the ppl next to us (looks like jc-age supporters for vjc choir) were pretty irritated that we disturbed their enjoyment with a frisk discussion of the natural scale. ah well. they were not like fantastic anyway =P got to meet up with bx after the whole event. happens that he was watching man u vs aston villa at chijmes with nic chow, haha.
tmr is an interesting day. first up is the lesson that i didnt prepare for (as usual) and then at 3 i'm supposed to help out at downtown east. i get this feeling i'll receive instructions not to turn up, before i even leave home for downtown east. things usually work out that way i guess.
because budak gave out kacang puteh, nicely wrapped (actually it's like assorted nuts from camel or tong garden, that sort) in this A4 pieces of the budak times dated 17 dec (full of weird jokes about them becoming world-famous, like being appointed ambassadors to china for commanding perfect mandarin) i held it on the way home. it felt a bit like holding a bouquet of flowers except that it's very short since it has no stem sticking out of the cone. anyway that reminded me of what zhansheng wrote for his msn nick, about hating christmas cause it's lonely. haha.
there were two guys strumming and singing carols in citylink mall. they were strolling up and down this stretch of shops as they performed, which reminded me of the three folks we met at cdans many years ago. anyway it's not the same ppl i reckon. i also saw vocaluptuous packing up outside hmv, presumably after a carolling session. ah well.
fortunately christmas wouldnt been lonely since it will always have carols.

i fell asleep 15 mins ago reading atkins. he managed to quote V = V-nb. i'm on the brink of giving up.
moe had one spare tix to budak so i took it. cant bring the whole gang along so i guess i'll try to provide some review instead.
my friend from kent ridge hall has "voice is dying" as his msn remark. oh he's in the hall aca. he's from next class when we were in primary school, so i dun know him that well, but he seems to have picked up aca after coming into kr. or maybe earlier than that, i dunno. he seemed to have been rather facinated by vocaluptuous' recent concert. but yah i think it's time to state my point. he's training for next year's inter hall competition. sometimes i look at my hall choir and aca and i wonder if we'll disappear as the dust settles. i havent prac with kev for a good month at least. i guess that means we are not in a leading position. even if your singers are world class, it still takes training to do right. not to mention for our standard of singers. look babe, we're in singapore. there aint many world class singers around here. certainly not in this hall.

oh.
yah, i finally started. not much. while the heater is burning away at the poor water molecules, transfering heat but it's probably not isothermal nor adiabatic. what the hell am i doing?? i twice misread atkins today and cursed him to hell until i found that's it's my own mistake. apologises to the author, like seriously. but i'm still not convinced about the conservation of energy. nvm that for now.

whacko party at bx's place. 3 hours of na na hey hey followed by 6 hrs of halo2. i think we're mad. all three of us were braindead after 6 hrs of intense combat action. we must never start it again unless we intend to end prac. nana was alright, surprisingly much less difficult than the previous time that we remembered. hurray! next is probably back to atkin's big fat storybook. he who thinks the impossibility of a perpectual motion machine proves the conservation of energy.

went to harbourfront with my mum today to buy a pair of binoculars for my dad. probably useful when he goes on those field trips to whereever jungle.
on the way there i thought of a notion. maybe a relationship is sort of like donating blood. it really depends on how much you give, but more importantly whether the other party is able to accept your gift.
btw i have been rejected twice thus far by hsa. it is most likely that i will never be classified under eligible to donate blood. maybe platelets, but the last time i tried to donate to a patient, he already had enough donors. and i heard that platelets cant be stored for long so simply donating with no purpose is like wasting the effort of the hospital staff. interesting how some things are not meant to be.

i lost my job again. that's the second time now. there must be a lesson to be learnt somewhere, i just need to find it. argh.
this is imminent threat to my future.

17-18 years old was the kind of time that was difficult to get by. i got down to clearing the final document tray (and i believe i have finally recovered most if not all of my jc notes. the stack of papers presently stand at a proud height of 22cm)
i also sorted through some mails from my shumin and jolin. as well as some mails i wrote that i never sent (i have this habit. it's difficult to tell someone something, so i write it down. then it becomes difficult to pass that person what i've wrote. stoopid. and things like this happen, seeing the mail again three years later, still unsent.) there was one for jing2 in chinese which i had to personally destroy in case my mum sorts through the rubbish like what she does with my earlier piles of rubbish. it was, in essence a rather melancholic letter, just thanking her for being around. might have gotten my mum worried. there was another one for the guys, even more depressed than this one, which was in english in silver on black (i had an obsession with matching paper and pen colours, largely in the direction of blue-black-silver)
luckily i think i am much happier today, although somethings remains regrettable. having been unable to put down somethings three years ago now becomes more hindering than the things themselves. i think i can start afresh. and i have somewhat been doing it, less certain portions (which well maybe i can patch up soon) sometimes i look on the streets and wonder whether the kids these days would appreciate it if they ever knew about what their seniors have gone through? i dun think i would appreciate it, probably even dismiss it as some boring-cum-compulsory school talk of sorts. maybe i have to learn it the hard way. =)

the gang should be coming home over the next few days. good good.
it's friday. sunday's meeting with geraldine. after realising that my initial sort through my papers have revealed many missing notes and other things that i have not noticed, i searched my room and found a box of scores, with some academic stuff inside. almost fainted. after sorting through that box (in the process missing a very good friend from jc, more than before, sobsob) there was still missing notes. then i searched my room again! and this time i found a three layer document tray, still loaded with papers. i have decided to continue the search tomorrow. buay tahan liao. i did recover some physics notes from the scores box though. that's good enough progress for today.
i also realised that i was surprisingly poor in academics back in jc. kept scoring Ds, Os, that sort of grade (yes even for my favourite subject chemistry) somehow my teachers did not decide that i ought to hit the wall at a very high velocity to learn my lesson. i scraped passed a levels and very fortunately / surprisingly qualified for university education at nus. i think i ought to have failed. somehow all i can remember to date was how i did at the final exam, which was by no means reflective of me being the distracted, problematic, hopeless teenager i was for the rest of the two years (minus the a levels period of one month or so) it was so bad i was looking forward to going into army to get a break. (yah i remember that. it was a good thing at that time, i needed that peace to reflect, and i hope things have cooled off by now. it also explains why i was very focused on army stuff. i didnt want to think about other things too much)
in conclusion, i was not a good student. but i was lucky to have met those i met, who took care of me and helped bring me across that difficult period, and today i'm still the same slacker that you know from 5 years ago, maybe a little more educated, but that doesnt make very much difference does it?

i met geraldine on sunday. she's surprisingly hardworking. read: practice jc1 tutorials during december holidays. like wow. that's not normal you know. anyway her entrance into my weekly routine has resulted in me sorting through my long forgotten pile of a level stuff and spent a day (so far) reading halliday and resnick. it's amazing what stuff i found in the corner of my room (for example, that the top box is actually almost totally junk. i threw away 95% of it other than a wood carving set and a bell from adeline and jolin in 2002)
that was also a very scary moment when i saw a white colour bug (at that time i thought it was a worm. on hindsight it crawled like a bug) crawl across. in my panic i released some of the papers i was holding, only to see another one crawl over the top of this new stack. alamak. since then i have happily covered the box again and choosing to ignore it until erm we'll see when. it has to be within this week anyway, i need my jc lecture notes to teach geraldine. so far i have only successfully found my physics notes. my maths notes have been spotted - in the box. so that one will have to wait until i can overcome the fear of the white bug. and my chem notes are no where in sight. lots of bio practical stuff appeared though. and angel mortal letters. ah whatever.
big plans for tmr! flying down to hougang to collect my vain photos. if they are gd enough i'll proceed to do registration at bb, then head over for a talk on chemistry education in europe (why do i even bother.) back in school. or i can just skip that part cos hey i didnt register or anything lol.
somethings i learned from a little reflection on last sunday. i speak pretty fast. i tend to skip steps, even in logical flow of thought. i use a fair amount of mental perception. i've forgotten most of my physics, or at least a good amt concerning electromagnetism. i like to digress. maybe there's more but they must have slipped my mind for the time being. oh yes i havent been listening very well. that's quite impt. as our hq will say: TLLM.
