one of the things i cannot understand is baseless enthusiasm.

it is good to be optimistic about life and things in general. about how we should and are able to make a difference. but sometimes there's nothing to be optimistic about. and i dun understand optimism in those circumstances. worse still, with that same optimism comes inaction.

optimistic but not actually making a difference.

my god. it becomes infectious optimism when people start to forget that they NEED TO WORK TO MAKE THINGS IMPROVE. nobody will make the world better for you, for you.

so i would like to say, please be rationally optimistic. better still, please start doing things to make the situation better. i dun profess to be a very optimistic person but at least i think i am putting in effort to make things look more optimistic. this form of optimism that i see is just beyond my comprehension.

i forgot to add. my batch mate was headhunted by large companies when he was still in secondary school. that was before he went to poly, which was merely a ticket to qualify for employment on paperwork. obviously certain poly graduates would earn more than a level cert holders. perhaps even more than degree holders like me.

i much rather SP just publicise openly for itself. it's much more pleasing to the eye.

i notice that the hilarious poly or jc blog is back. i dun want to argue anymore whether it is biased, it at least presents a different view of things that are sometimes less known, like what are the options at poly. I had a batchmate who is just amazing at computing and he chose to go poly because that was the fastest route to employment. i'm sure he's a successful kid out there somewhere now. yes poly does has its points.

but masquerading as a neutral site with no agenda is just hilarious. at least this time round the name SP has appeared on the website. but some of the facts are a little questionable (much like a quotation that claimed that gifted students are typically larger in built and more physically developed than others - a plain ignorance of different areas of giftedness.)

the site mentioned, "Myth#4-Poly students are not as successful as JC students!
Truth#4- Researches show that certain Poly students earn more than JC graduates!"
I am left to wonder. most JC students flow into universities eventually. are you telling me that graduates earn less than diploma holders? i dun think you can find any statistics to support that, and furthermore the market of employers have a strong preference for degree rather than diploma holders, barring the cost of employing one. so let me guess... did you compare diploma holders with 'A' level certificate holders? well then, you have a perfectly sound comparison, which gives meaningless conclusions. the 'a' level cert is useless on its own, that is commonly accepted. so what is the point of your statement? this sounds very much like an attempt to mislead people by using partial truths. yes, if you choose jc track and do not eventually go to uni, you might be pretty damn screwed. but most people who go to jc are not like that.

i still find the website a joke. but already there are people flaming on the existent forum so there's no point in coming in and making a bigger fuss. the point is made, as far as i'm concerned, and i hope that people out there are more careful and critical of what they read. remember that in our age of information, there's much junk out there, even on wikipedia. trust no one source completely.

back from the malaysia cruise. plenty of stuffs going on there on that ship. i cant decide on hindsight whether it was meant to be a fun-filled vacation or a restful vacation. it certainly wasnt both. i am some sorts of revitalised and at the same time had some fun. although i was still very tired today at prac after lunch, and died alone in the dance studio for a while. apparently my group members were far more awake than i was, which was weird. anyway, we did good progress, and i'm damn proud of the team members. somehow it's raining now and i feel good about it. like what the hell for. so tmr we'll be carolling at heeren, and i sure hope things go well. i need to make some more preparations for it though, things that they might overlook. there are things i would like the newbies to learn and try handson, and things i think i should just do for them. sometimes i wonder if i know where the line lies. but thank goodness we have some pretty independent and self motivated rfys. i cant quite motivate people so it helps alot when they come ready made.

and i just got one of the most crazy offers i have ever heard. pls dun let me take it up, i will die by the start of january.

back from chlamp, and had a good breakfast with yedan this morning. havent compiled the stuffs from the retreat yet, and honestly thinking of slacking the day away haha. sigh. going to play some games and then grab some sleep, and maybe use the night for work. anyway there's this super irritating drilling business going on downstairs. i tried to hold a major 2nd against it but i cant tell if i got it right.
